Step 1: After cleansing and applying your styling products, lay the towel flat and flip your head forward so your curls land in the centre.
Step 2: Fold the towel over your head, twist the ends gently and secure at the nape. Leave for 10 to 20 minutes.
Step 3: Release, scrunch out any excess water and air dry or diffuse as usual.
Pro tip: Never rub. Blot and scrunch only, because rubbing is what roughs up the cuticle and creates frizz.

Q: How long should I leave my hair plopped in the towel?
A: Around 10 to 20 minutes works for most curls. Longer is fine for thick hair, but you want hair damp, not bone dry, when you release it.

Q: Will this work on wavy hair, or only tight curls?
A: Every pattern benefits. Waves often see the biggest frizz reduction because they are easily pulled flat by heavy, wet hair.

Q: How is this different from using a cotton t-shirt?
A: The t-shirt trick works on the same principle, but microfibre suede absorbs much more water, holds its wrap shape better, and dries faster between washes.

Q: How often should I wash the towel?
A: A warm machine wash every week or two is plenty. Skip fabric softener, as it coats the fibres and reduces absorbency.
