How Do You Wash Your Hair? Our Experts Show You Their 3 Ways!

Lather, rinse, repeat...right? Not quite...

If you're like me and are thinking that everyone just adds a squeeze of shampoo, lathers, then rinses off, then you'll be surprised about all the different ways we wash our hair!

Today I chatted with the hair experts in the salon about their hair washing routines and tips they had for fresh locks

Lucy

I have really fine and silky, dyed blonde locks, which lack volume and can sometimes go brassy! I use Oribe Shampoo for Magnificent Volume to wash my hair every 3-4 days, lather, and rinse. I skip out on conditioner and rely on Oi All In One Milk to detangle, and as more of a leave in protectant. I spray this on towel dried hair and comb through before blowdrying.  Every other week I'll use the Evo Fabuloso Platinum Blonde to tone out the yellows. I also will apply and sleep with my Olaplex No.3 bond repairer in my hair every other week to protect and rebuild my bleached locks!

Molly

Molly's hair type is short, fine, and (as of recently) totally bleached blonde. As a platinum blonde, she is an Olaplex and Silver Shampoo LOVER and washes her locks every 2-3 days with this process to maintain healthy, toned hair.
For her shampoo Molly combines Davines Alchemic Silver Shampoo and Olaplex No.4 Shampoo together and scrubs this into her roots. If she feels her hair is starting to go more brassy, she tones it more by repeating with just blonde shampoo on its own, and leaving it in for around 2 minutes.

For conditioner, Molly either uses Davines Alchemic Silver Conditioner once a week, the rest of the time Olaplex no.5 Conditioner. She leaves in her conditioner for about 5 minutes as she does everything else in the shower, and then rinses before she gets out. She towel dries her hair and applies 8 pumps of Oi All In One Milk through her hair before combing out. Molly then uses Olaplex No.6 before blow drying for a silky finish.

Anthea

Anthea is a part of the 'only washing my hair once a week' club. Which I've always wanted to be able to do but have no idea how?! She explained how she first uses the R&Co 'Oblivion' Clarifying Shampoo to give her hair a really good clean as it is perfect for people who would have buildup from chlorine, hard water, and styling products, especially after a whole week between washes.

She then uses Oribe's Bright Blonde Shampoo for Beautiful Colour as she has blonde hair with a few greys. She uses the shampoo 2,3 sometimes 4 times in the one wash! Since she's only washing once a week she repeats to get her hair really clean.

Anthea's told me her best hair hack ever when it comes to conditioning hair is face cloth and Tangle Teezer. Using the face cloth or small hand towel to blot out excess water from her hair after shampooing and before applying the conditioner. This means you need less product and your are not diluting what you are using. Anthea uses Oribe's Bright Blonde Conditioner and then a Wet Detangler Brush by Tangle Teezer to spread the conditioner through her hair.

She leaves her conditioner in while she does everything else, Anthea loves Oribe's Bright Blonde Conditioner - "its like gold, the formula’s violet pigments work to cancel out yellow and brassy tones, and more exciting it will protect against UV damage!!"
