5 Myths about hair I hear everyday 🤔

Hair myths are constantly circulating, you may sit back and think can these crazy hair myths really be true? Well we are here to bust these for you, below are 5 of the most common myths we always hear.

1 | CUTTING YOUR HAIR FREQUENTLY MAKES IT GROW FASTER

The reason why we suggest trimming your hair every six to eight weeks is to prevent your strands from breaking, not because your hair will grow faster. Having full and healthy ends will give the illusion of longer hair though.

2 | PULLING YOUR GREY HAIR MAKES MORE GROW

For those of you who are getting those first few grey hairs, listen in. Pulling out that one grey hair will not result in 10 in its place. But even though you want to get rid of them we suggest you leave them until your next hair appointment. Plucking your hair can possibly destroy the hair follicle which will lead to bald patches and this is something that cannot be fixed.

3 | WASHING YOUR HAIR EVERYDAY IS BAD FOR YOU

This is a very common myth that people constantly believe, however how often you wash your hair is drawn down to your hair type, sometimes lifestyle and even the climate you live in. Those with curly hair depend upon natural oils produced by your scalp, therefore requiring less washes a week in their hair. Whereas, those with fine or straight hair will show an oily scalp more easily meaning that you might want to wash it more often. Everybody is different, so how many times you wash your hair is dependent on your personal choice.

4 | DRY SHAMPOO MAKES YOUR HAIR FALL OUT MORE

Again another myth that is drawn down to your hair type, scalp health, how much dry shampoo you use and your regular shampooing routine. Dry Shampoo is an oil-absorbing powder and therefore build up can irritate your scalp and weaken hair follicles, which can POSSIBLY cause hair fallout. BUT this is usually excessive amounts of dry shampoo use, people can often think they can replace dry shampoo with normal shampoo when this is not the case. As long as you are still regularly shampooing and cleaning your hair and scalp this will not be a problem.

5 | DON'T USE OIL PRODUCTS IF YOU HAVE OILY HAIR

Now people assume just because you have oily hair you cant use oil products. This is not the case, in fact there are actually a lot of different oils that will leave your scalp healthier and producing less natural sebum than before. It is important to make sure you are finding the right oil for your already oily hair because there will be some oils that might not be the best for your already oily scalp.
